About Steve Hunt
Steve chose to live in Howard County in 2000, attracted by its top-rated school system, quality of life, and commitment to diversity, inclusion and civility. Steve has dedicated much of his time while living in the County to serving his community, and those that live there.
After college, Steve started his career as a public sector employee. In 1994, Steve helped launch RS Information Systems (RSIS), a minority-owned Government contractor. As part of the executive team, Steve was a major part of building RSIS into a firm that, at its peak, employed over 2,000 professionals, realizing revenues in excess of $400M. After RSIS was acquired, Steve moved to Integral Systems, where, as part of the executive team there, he led the firm’s move to Columbia Gateway. Steve currently serves as a manager with a research and consulting firm in Bethesda, MD. Steve brings with him over 25 years of private-sector experience, most of which at the management/executive level.
Dedicated to his community, Steve has served Howard County in a variety of roles. His service includes work with the North Laurel Civic Association, Laurel Wood ES PTA (where his wife Meg is an officer), Howard County Charter Review Commission, HCPSS Area Attendance Committee, and HCPSS Policy 6010 Review Committee. Steve currently serves on the Spending Affordability Advisory Committee, Development Regulations Steering Committee, and Howard County Board Appeals (where he is currently Chair). Through these roles, Steve brings a deep understanding of the issues, concerns and challenges that face Howard County, its communities, and the citizens that live there.
Steve and his wife, Meg, live in North Laurel, where they are proud parents of their children Paige and Jason, both of whom are students in our Howard County Public School System. In his spare time, Steve enjoys working with kids as a Cub Scouts Assistant Den Leader and sports coach (with both Savage Boys & Girls Club and AYRA).
